A Message from the Principal

Dear Akron Prep Families,

October is here, and we have a lot to celebrate as a school community. Our scholars have worked hard through the

first quarter, our staff continues to show up with purpose each day, and our families have remained an important

part of everything we do.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Fall Festival. It was great seeing our scholars and families together,

enjoying the evening and building community. Events like this are an important reminder that school is about more

than academics—it is also about relationships, connection, and creating positive experiences for our scholars.

As Quarter 1 comes to a close and Quarter 2 begins, this is a great time to check in on your scholar’s progress.

Please make sure assignments are completed, grades are reviewed, and communication with teachers remains

consistent. If your scholar needs additional academic support, transportation assistance, or help with any other

school-related need, please reach out to us. We want to work alongside you.

October will also bring Parent-Teacher Conferences, Read-O-Ween, Spirit Week, volleyball, state testing, and more

opportunities to celebrate our scholars.

Thank you for continuing to trust Akron Prep with your children and for partnering with us throughout the school

year.

With appreciation,

Jon Thompson, Principal

Akron Preparatory School

Academic Update

Third Grade Reading Guarantee

For many of our third grade scholars, this will be their first experience taking a state

assessment.

Families can help by making sure students:

• Get plenty of rest

• Drink plenty of water

• Eat breakfast

• Arrive on time

• Take their time and trust what they have learned

Students will have another opportunity to take the assessment in the spring.

Quarter 2

Now that scholars have settled into the school year, academics will continue to ramp up.

This is especially important for our middle school students, as academic performance can

impact future high school opportunities.

If your child needs academic support, please contact the school at 330-247-6232.

Culture Update

Fall Weather & Uniforms

As temperatures begin to change, scholars may wear:

• Akron Prep-approved sweatshirts

• Long-sleeve shirts under polos in approved school colors

• Jackets, coats, hats, and gloves to and from school

Outerwear should be put away once students are in their homerooms.

Please continue making sure scholars arrive in the proper Akron Prep uniform each day.

Family Reminders

Attendance

Scholars may begin arriving at 7:30 a.m.

School Attendance Goal: 95%

Dismissal

The school day ends at 3:30 p.m.

We are using a number placard system to make dismissal faster and more efficient. If you do not have a placard, call 330-247-6232 and ask for Ms. Ryan.
