Academics
Akron Preparatory School scholars continue to make meaningful academic progress. On the most recent Ohio School Report Card, the school earned 3 stars for academic growth, with performance index scores increasing year over year. This success is driven by an instructional model that combines a standards-based curriculum aligned to Ohio’s learning expectations with individualized and differentiated instruction.
By utilizing frequent short-cycle assessments and data-driven practices, our certified teachers and educational technology ensure every student receives the targeted interventions necessary for mastery. These efforts are bolstered by extended learning time—providing more instructional hours than required by the state—and strategic supports like a summer academy to minimize learning loss. The effectiveness of this approach is evident: in 2022–23, 100% of students met promotion requirements to Grade 4, reflecting our commitment to foundational early literacy and recognized executive leadership.
