Jamon McClain - Dean of Students

I was born in Canton, OH where I was raised by my parents along with my twin brother. I attended Canton City Schools as I graduated from Mckinley Sr. High School in 2010. I played both basketball and football in high school where I was fortunate enough to receive a full-ride football scholarship to The University of Findlay, a private division 2 school in northwestern Ohio. I graduated from The University of Findlay in 2015 with an Early Childhood Education teaching degree. I taught for 2 years, and decided to go back to school to get my masters. I graduated from Cleveland State in 2018 with my masters in Educational Leadership.
I chose education because I wanted to give back to the next generation the same way a lot of influential people gave back to me. Through mentorship, effective academic pedagogy, positive modeling, and building solid foundational relationships, students can grow and rise to tremendous heights. I could have chose any profession in the world, but I knew the field of education would provide me many opportunities to work hands on with our youth on a consistent base.

Cisco Moore - Dean of Students

I have been working here at Akron Preparatory School since November 2018. The transition to this school came after working for Akron Public Schools for 3 years in a similar capacity. Working in education is something I take great pride in, especially when it comes to helping mold the great minds of tomorrow. It also allows me to understand the community, and allows me to serve it in a more direct manner.
I look forward to being at AKP while learning and growing under the current leadership team that we have. I am currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University studying Behavioral Health Science. One of my favorite quotes comes from a poem written by Marianne Williamson: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.” I say to this, let us all shine our light and each of us can be a representation of what happens when you face your “deepest fear”.

Community School

Akron Preparatory School is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by the Ohio Council of Community Schools (OCCS) which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States.

Community Schools (Charter Schools) offer families an alternative to the local public school. Community schools are tuition-free, open to all students in the county, and focused on meeting student needs for success. Community schools are among the top-performing schools in the nation.
