At Akron Preparatory School, students are supported in a structured, caring environment that prepares them for future success. A strong sense of community, combined with engaging activities and high expectations, helps students feel safe, motivated, and connected—both in and out of the classroom.
Specialized Learning Environments
Students benefit from spaces that support exploration, movement, and early social development:
- Multipurpose Room
- Sensory Play Area for Grades K–1
Positive School Culture Program
Akron Prep uses a tiered behavior system that grows with students as they move through grade levels.
- In Grades K–3, students earn tokens for strong behavior and academics, which can be used at the Book Vending Machine.
- In Grades 4–5, students earn “R Bucks” for positive actions, which can be traded for dress down passes, school supplies, and candy.
- In Grades 6–8, financial literacy is built into the culture—students receive a weekly “paycheck” based on behavior and manage a class bank with loans and interest. They use their earnings to shop from a school store stocked with snacks, passes, and more.
This system promotes responsibility, financial skills, and real-world learning while keeping students engaged and accountable.
